No “Expert” required…

Okay, break out the tissue on this one because you might need it after I’m done! Here goes: be honest, I mean REALLYย  be honest with your self-do you really think you NEED an expert to tell you you’re going nowhere fast, a hamster on someone else’s wheel, working on someone else’s dream? And do you NOT already know that you’re over-stressed, over-worked, over weight and slowly killing yourself because YOUR HEALTH sucks?!

I G.E.T. I.T.! Really I do know what that’s like! A few years ago I hit a rough patch in my life (relationship and health issues, etc) and though I’d like to say I’m totally over it all, that would be a lie. Yes I’ve grown a lot, but I’m still battling through health issues; the only difference is, I FINALLY got tired of looking in the mirror and NOT liking what I saw. This wasn’t because I was some evil “Borg” Queen (oops, my inner Trekkie speaks again *wink*) out to crush everyone in her path in order to climb the professional ladder, or even just a sad excuse for a human being; my problem? FEAR! It cripples and hinders even the best of us, and if you don’t get a grip on it, it will trap you on an endless cycle of discontent, failure and hopelessness.

In my case, the most obvious symptom was being over weight, unhealthy and stressed to my breaking point. I’m not going to go into a long story or get :preachy” but I will say this, YOU WANT CHANGE? Take ACTION otherwise you’re really not at your breaking point, AND YOU’RE just wasting your time and anyone trying to help you get on track; Yep, I’m talking about me! I CAN NOT help you get to where you want to be unless, YOU DECIDE and COMMIT to the journey too…

Monday fitness goals…

Hmm so what’s the plan? Do some HIIT, yoga, hit the hiking trails real hard, head to the gym for some group exercise class (*yawn*), go for a run? Just WHAT? Aright, rant alert here! I’m so tired of the excuses as to why a large number of Americans are so unhealthy, stressed out, keeling over at their desks from being overworked, etc!! YES that’s ALL TRUE! But what’s also true is that we Americans are kings and queens of fear driven bondage-bondage to our employers, our jobs, and just plain old mediocrity! Sorry that smarts but I’M ALSO included in that sad number, so Baam!

We all have our issues, but at some point you have to be WILLING and COMMITTED to breaking the yoke around your neck and just crying out “enough IS enough”! Enough with being overworked and underpaid by employers, enough with being afraid of taking the risk of becoming your own boss, ENOUGH with living an unhealthy lifestyle-JUST ENOUGH! This is where I’M AT on my fitness and lifestyle journey; I’m done with working for someone else and his/her narrow assessment of my skills, gifts and potential and definitely DONE with being overweight and unhealthy! I look back this Monday and all I can say is, WOW! I’m finally doing it; stepping out and taking the risk to becoming my own boss, and literally controlling my own destiny, BOOMSIES!!

I love the NEW ME I’m becoming and I love the fact that there are other positive women out there pushing and supporting me on this journey! It’s HARD to get started but it’s definitely worth it, and here is where I end my little rant for now , ha haha! THIS is why I started this journey AND NOW it’s time to share that opportunity with other people who WANT and are WILLING to do the same for themselves and their families-DO IT because you know YOU ARE WORTH IT! Enough said and onward to the JOURNEY!

A new day, another weekend…

I have to keep reminding myself that although it’s another weekend going by, I still have a chance to close out the week by making sure I accomplish something, scratch some to-dos off the list, make some more changes, blah blah blah! Yes all that is true, but I have to confess that like everything else in life, the actual “DOING” takes action to pull it into and make it a part of my reality.

Being a very visual person, for me, that means coming outside of my head and actually moving my physical self to engage in action as a way of motivating myself to go to the next level. I guess this is why getting my health on track through physical fitness activities, diet, etc is ALSO forcing me to look at the other areas of my life that need work too! What i’m trying to say is this: ย if you’ve let your health languish and fall off of the deep end, there’s also a pretty good chance that the other areas of your life are so hot either; just saying!

Want to lose weight and maintain it? You’ve gotta own it and stick to your fitness and nutritional plans; there’s literally no magic involved; seriously! Waist “cinchers” *cough* trimmers, weight-loss pills, mystery potions, WILL NOT help you; some might actually damage your organs. Come on! I CAN’T be the only one who’s seen the lawsuit class action suits over this danger stuff๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜•

Hmmm, how’s that list coming along?

Well, how is it? You know that long list of to-dos that you were planning to tear through at the speed of light, like X-men’s blowing through the baddies all in a single flurry? Yeah, that one!
The bottom line is, NOTHING will change if I DON’T MOVE! So I decided to get my butt back in gear and REMEMBER why I started on this journey ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘Š Maybe that’s not your story, but I know I’m NOT the only one who has or is struggling with health issues, trying to lose weight or is just straight up trying to make the switch to a healthy lifestyle. image

I’ve found tremendous support by becoming both a beach body coach and partnering with an awesome challenge group filled with people striving for the same thing. It’s HARD I won’t lie, but IT’S worth it, and most importantly, I’M WORTH IT!๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘Š What about YOU,out there? Are you struggling too? Need some help and motivation? Starting a new week…

So I decided to stop dwelling on the past and things I’ve yet to complete and just knock it out. You know just get things done in spite of my fears and stop spinning my wheels! Everyone has fears, unless you’re just plain ole bat sh*t crazy, or an automaton. Either way, we all have places we’re afraid to go on the inside and we end up handicapping ourselves for no good reason, at least that’s what I found out in my own case๐Ÿ‘Š

So today is yoga stretch and recover day where I relax a little and let my body do it’s thing on the inside! Too much or top many high intensity workouts can lead to damage and or injury, so LISTEN TO your body.๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘‚

Fitness Friday…Happy Earth Day!

Well Friday is here again and now what? Do the Same stuff over again or get out and change YOUR life? Hmmm let me think on that one! Well yes to the last and a big fat NO to the first! I’ve got to say I’m tired of the whole do-over phenomenon; I don’t want to perpetuate the negatives in my life and I certainly refuse to do those same things I’ve done in the past that led to setbacks and disappointment.

I don’t know about anyone else but as for me, I’m looking and fighting my way to a better me from the inside out- A total “detox” of the mind, body and spirit! I’ve learned (and ย I’m still LEARNING) that true health and healing that leads to fitness, has to start from within (yeah I know it sounds like a cliche but it’s true) and so yeah, it’s a PROCESS; meaning TIME is involved, HA ha! Anyway, as I think about earth day and what it should mean to us all-protecting our natural resources and heritage, the environment, sustainability, conservation, environmental justice for all, etc, I WE’VE got a LONG way to go in terms of evolving into a species that WE ALL can be proud of.

I personally plan to start with me (“being the change I want to see”) and partnering with other like-minded individuals; after, YOU’VE gotta start somewhere right? I started this journey last summer and I aim to get healthier, stronger (on the inside and out), and flower into the person I’m learning, I was truly meant to be-I’ll be taking my friends with me too!

P.s. .Next stop, my local farmer’s market for some natural (and organic) goodness for tonight’s dinner plate๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿดwp-1461371288908.jpg

FIT Tuesday…

FIT Tuesday…

Another day has come and goneย  but Tuesday is still going strong, ha haha! Yes I worked up a sweat >>hammering and chiseling<< my way to being fit and ooh so much stronger than I was yesterday!ย  I guess you could say I’m just a “bit” EXCITED when I look back over the last six months and say to myself “you’ve come a long way baby”!

Getting fit, healthy AND STAYING that way MUST be maintained;ย  you don’t just work to get there and then expect to magically stay that way! Ha ha, DUH! Good luck with that fantasy! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ๐Ÿ˜‰

What’s your yardstick for measuring healthy? I hope it’s not “skinny” because frankly, there’re A LOT of UNHEALTHY skinny people poping up all over the Internet! A distorted body image is a great way to end up unhealthy and possibly lose your life! Eating healthy, having a great exercise and accountability regime IS THE BEST thing you can do for yourself! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Remember, there’s no shame in admitting you NEED TO change your lifestyle; it doesn’t matter where you start, JUST DO IT ALREADY! !!

Your universe…create your space!

So yesterday I decided to take a nature walk after a muscle burning kick-ass workout and IT WAS GOOD! Yep, I did it and I can honestly say there’s nothing like the sense of accomplishment and pride you feel when you’ve pushed through and come out on the other side.

For me it was a big deal because this same time last year, I literally could NOT work up the energy, lung capacity and courage to do what I’ve done! I said to myself,ย  “REALLY?” “Are you really just gonna stay this way?” “Over weight, UNhappy, FEARful, and boxed in?”

Nuh Uh! I soo was not going out that way! Next comes a coworker and friend who supported me and got me started with an awesome program and a wonderful group of ladies, each with their own struggles and journeys,ย  BUT UNITED in staying the course of getting healthy, fit, and empowered! BOOMSIES!! YAY, YAY! *backsliding like Micheal Jackson now* Hall haha, OMG, what a freaking journey it’s been but it ain’t over yet.

Now I’Mย  a fitness coach (shout out to my Beachbody buddies) and I’m humbled and empowered with the knowledge that I’m doing for others what was done for me AND I’M making money doing it! Can someone say, AWESOME!! and KACHING!!!ย  No its NOT ALL about the money, but it’s really nice to get paid for doing something you’re passionate about; especially in a world where so many people are suffering from poor health and nutrition.

All in all, Tuesday was a beautiful and hope filled day full of the sights, sounds, and yes, “smells” of nature. Getting outside and into the outdoors is a balm for my soul and there’s nothing like it. Maybe it’sย  something about the physical action of engaging with nature that makes you connect and define your place within IT-YOUR UNIVERSE!

Another week ends and the promise of another rolls around; that’s my definition of the weekend. It’s that time when I think about all the things I needed to get done but didn’t,ย  all that I was able to accomplish from my long list of to-dos, and just trying to get grounded to seriously STOP procrastinating about that box of stuff I’ve been avoiding opening up!ย  Don’t act like you don’t have one too! We’ve all got those “issues” and or “situations” we’ve put off dealing with out of fear, complacency, or just plain laziness.

Well, today is the day I meditate, deliberate, and activate some REAL CHANGE in dealing with my “black box”! I don’t know what’s holding YOU back from moving forward, BUT by the time THIS WEEKEND is done I’ve vowed to myself that come Monday,ย  I WILL have a plan that I’ve put in motion and I WON’T STOP until I’m D. O. N. E. Getting fit and healthy IS MY VEHICLE for activating change in my life-21dayfix, Hammer & Chisel, it doesn’t matter what workout regime YOU choose to make that physical move; JUST MOOOVE!!!

Time to work up a sweat, get that heart muscle pumping…Uh mm not feeling it? Well that’s what today is all about because when you’re feeling a bit run down but you KNOW you’ve gotta stay on track, you keep digging down until you find that little bit of something-MOTIVATION!

Mine came from myย  workout challenge buddies plus switching up my routine by doing a 20 min yoga session, ha ha! My point is I DID something to change MY position and MY perspective because darn it! WE all hit those bumps on the road to fitness and empowerment. I guess I could lie and say it’sย  AALLL sweetness and light *wink* but I wouldn’t be doing you any favors! Suffice it to say, staying on track is NOT a cake walk BUT is it WORTH IT???! YES IT IS!!!
